Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary, Bharatpur

There is scanty information in travel industry sources about Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary in Bharatpur town of Rajasthan (50 km to the west from Agra), yet it's a delightful destination for ornithologists and any nature lover for that matter. The former maharajas hunting fields are turned into a particularly protected area now and attract bird experts and photographers from across the world. Due to favorable weather conditions, the place has become a major migratory crossroads for many bird species. Don't be surprised to spot some familiar birds from your own country there, e.g., white stork, along with exotic local species.
Leaving your car a good deal outside the park, you can set off exploring it on foot or hire a velo-rickshaw. The riders know this bird kingdom like back of their hand!
