Mühlbauer

The origins of the excellent headwear store date back to the early 20th century - to 1903 when a certain Frau Julianna Mühlbauer opened a small millinery workshop and store. The family business is being carried on in the fourth generation now, selling both classically designed and completely innovative and original headgear, every single one of them exquisite and sophisticated: little wonder that many of the best stores worldwide - the Paris Le Bon Marché and London Harrods included - carry Mühlbauer masterpieces. Seilergasse is home to two Mühlbauer stores in the heart of Vienna, one of which offers a selection of collections by international brands (Vivienne Westwood, Moschino Cheap & Chic, Cacharel, Sofie D'Hoore, A.P.C., Birgit Indra, Baracuta, Mackintosh Rainwear, etc.); the other one is dedicated to hats and nothing but hats. Like rows of colourful buttons, they sit on the Mühlbauer shelves, standing out impressively against the backdrop of white walls and arched ceiling - a whole gallery of hats!
