Buteljons

Buteljons is a glass makeover workshop where you can obtain artistic gifts and practical items for daily use made from recycled glass. There you will discover how cut in the middle bottles can be conjured into containers for spices and wine bottles from your last party can get turned into stylish glasses and massive goblets. Bottle necks now serve as stems but bottoms are turned into foots of glasses.
Shelves of the small store are loaded with creations of a Latvian glass artist - melted and flattened bottles have collapsed into various shapes, forming trays and shallow dishes. These items have acquired completely new functions, while still reminding of their former life.
If you have a basement full of bottles and your head is swarming with creative ideas, Buteljons is the right place to go. Together with glass artists, the most original ideas can be turned into reality! Buteljons functions also as unofficial glass waste collection point where empty bottles can acquire a second life.
Buteljons glass workshop is located right there, behind the door (you can even hear the buzz of machinery), where bottles are cut, grind and polished.
Nature-friendly philosophy is evident in every aspect of the shop - its flooring is made of boards from wooden pallets, it features antique pieces of furniture and the products are packed in cardboard tubes that previously have served as cores for polythene sheeting rolls.
