Hotel de las Letras

An incredibly quiet designer hotel in the heart of Madrid. An ideal location, a minimalist design - everything's the way it should be, everything's recognisable: a lamp by a decent brand, a plasma TV, etc. Bed pillows come with a certificate of its stuffing: choose the one that best suites your preferences and the needs of your body. And yet at the same time you can't help but feel that you're staying in a 1917 building. The entrance is quite interesting in itself: it's a modern revolving door, and yet the old doorstep has been preserved; you see bits and pieces left over from the former magnificence all over the place. The paint has been stripped here and there from the passage walls, reminding one of some charming and very personal lines drawn by Time in the face of the building. An excellent bar and one of the most favourite Catalan restaurants in the city. Las Letras is owned by the Habitat Hotels Group; you will find in your room (there are 103 of them altogether) a great Madrid guidebook written by one of the Wallpaper City Guide writers exclusively for this chain of hotels.
