BOZARSHOP Bookstore
If you are planning to visit Brussels this autumn, do reserve some time for a visit to BOZAR or Palais des Beaux-Arts, the Brussels Centre for Fine Arts. There are two reasons for doing it: first of all, two interesting exhibitions are currently on view in this unique 1920s building - often referred to as "the epicentre of Brussels culture" - designed by the Belgian architect Victor Horta: Melting Ice (a group exhibition of 40 artists interested in the problem of global warming) and The Grand Atelier - Europalia. Pathways of Art in Europe, an exhibition which includes about 350 works and is an attempt to trace the roads travelled by artists and their creations between the 5th and 18th centuries. Another excellent reason for visiting BOZAR is the fact that BOZARSHOP, the first Brussels art and design bookstore of this scale, is opening this month. The project has been brought to life by the Base international design group in association with the Spanish art book publishers Actar. The 360 m² room will house 10 000 art and design books, 1000 DVDs, 4000 CDs and an impressive choice of art and design periodicals. A separate part of the bookstore will be dedicated to children's needs. The centre of the store will be taken over by a makeshift reading room: a huge communal table for browsing books while enjoying a cup of tea or coffee or a glass of fresh juice.
BOZARSHOP will be open daily 10 am - 10 pm.
