Jules&Jim

It wouldn't be easy to pick a more fascinating name for a hotel, instantly triggering an intriguing string of associations - the Francois Truffaut legendary movie and the New Wave cinema classics, "Jules and Jim" (1962), telling a story of two childhood friends and the love of their life in the length of 25 years (Jeanne Moreau); the bohemian Marais quarter - a district of gays and a matchless style, with almost every street corner resembling a movie frame...

Hotel Jules and Jim, opened just recently, has only 23 guest rooms that are located in three buildings, linked by two inner courtyards. The main courtyard features an amazing green, vegetal wall and an open air fireplace - a perfect retreat for relaxation, while rooms are themed along three main subject lines - Jules, Jim and Hi-Macs, the latter ones offering a romantic ode to techno-age. Closet, toilet, shower and basin are placed in four corners of a room, while its center is reserved for a cozy bed, sheltered by a special hi-tech "cocoon".

Photos on the walls narrate the 21st century version of Jules and Jim story. The entrance to the hotel leads through a gallery space, prolonging photography exhibitions previously shown in the leading galleries of the city. Some other best bits of the place are a bar library, filled with fine aromas of scented candles by French cult perfumerer Francis Kurkdjian, bar staff wearing Supra shoes (the most colorful current collection items being exhibited in the hotel as well) and a chance to take a small, romantic cruise on board of an antique Venetian water taxi "Murano", now restored to its original splendor.
