Museum Night, 31 January

The original idea of the now traditional Museum Night was born ten years ago in Berlin and later borrowed and adapted by a number of European cities. The Berlin version takes place biannually; the first Museum Night of 2009 will be held on 31 January (to be followed by the second one on 29 August); some 110 Berlin museums, cultural institutions and art galleries are taking part this year. The official launching time is 6 pm; the museums will stay open until 2 am. If you book your ticket - granting admission to all venues and to all city buses and metro during the event - it will cost you EUR 12 (www.museumsportal-berlin.de); on the day of the Museum Night the price will rise to EUR 15. The programme offers five different routes; for further information, log on to www.lange-nacht-der-museen.de.
