Zenzakan

The 2009-opened Zenzakan is one of the most visible newcomers on the Frankfurt restaurant scene; the first thing you'll find striking is its sheer scope: the total area of the dining hall is over 2000 square metres. The speciality of Zenzakan is Pan-Asian cuisine, a combination of the best of the Japanese, Vietnamese and Thai cooking. The decor is the embodiment of Oriental glamour, a Frankfurt version of the Buddha Bar, dominated by black colour and impressive bronze and black heads of the Buddha. The tiniest detail has been given lots of thought: the service is excellent and food is served on black stone plates. Zenzakan is frequented by business people and the trendy crowd; next door to the bar and restaurant, an adjacent room is available for a more intimate meal. A matching pricelist means that for a classical green tea you will be charged no less than EUR 8. Zenzakan shares its owners with M Steakhouse, a place well known among the Frankfurt restaurant-goers, as well as the nearby Ivory Club Indian restaurant; the latter emulates Maharaja-style opulence in its decor while serving a contemporary take on the traditional Indian cuisine.
