Fifth Avenue Shoe Repair

Fifth Avenue Shoe Repair is one of the brightest Swedish fashion brands at the moment. It's an intellectual journey into the design world that starts with the title already. Fifth Avenue Shoe Repair doesn't have much in common with shoes, to say nothing of repairing. The name has been inspired by an old shoemakers shop in London that has passed on its traditions and knowledge from one generation to another. In a way, Fifth Avenue Shoe Repair represents this quality in its collections as well. Based on classic tailoring principles, new constructions and silhouettes are being designed. In other words, it features avant-garde structures based upon classic foundation. Garments seem to be shaped like sculptures, while search for new forms and comfort is equally important. Fifth Avenue Shoe Repair was found in 2004 by designers Astrid Olsson and Lee Cotter. The brand soon became popular, acquiring a cult status in Sweden. A palette of prevailingly black, white and gray is a typical trait of Fifth Avenue Shoe Repair collections, the same way as its absolute resistance towards a never ending marathon of trends that ceaselessly tells what's fashionable and what's not.
Fifth Avenue Shoe Repair store is sited in a hip Södermalm area of Stockholm, and another one, brand new, in the very heart of the city, alongside with other designer shops. Swedish architectural firm Guise has designed its concept, and its entirely white décor serves as an excellent background for its garments. The interior of the store has been built according to the same principles as Fifth Avenue Shoe Repair collections, intriguing, unusual details being set upon a classic foundation. Clothes are hanged on special constructions made of slender metallic bars, while black steel shelving imitates the appearance of staircase. Moreover, all that is highly flexible and functional and can be modified and rearranged according to needs. An impeccable whiteness of large fitting rooms is interrupted only by a black chair and a garment that you have chosen to try on.
